The fallout sparked by Jon Gruden's racists and misogynistic emails continues. This time, it's EA Sports and Madden NFL 22 that condemned the former Las Vegas Raiders coach for his past actions.

In an announcement on Wednesday, EA Sports confirmed that it is removing Jon Gruden from the game. Instead, they will be replacing him with a generic avatar.

“EA Sports is committed to taking action in maintaining a culture of inclusion and equity. Due to the circumstances of Jon Gruden's resignation, we are taking steps to remove him from Madden NFL 22. We will replace him with a generic likeness via a title update in the coming weeks.”

Jon Gruden resigned as Raiders head coach after the contents of his emails from previous years were leaked. It started when a 2011 email sent to then Washington Redskins exec Bruce Allen revealed how Gruden called NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith with a racist trope–saying he has “lips the size of michellin tires.”

After that, several more past misogynistic, homophobic and racist messages from the NFL coach surfaced. There is one message where he called NFL commissioner Roger Goodell a “faggot” and a “clueless anti football pussy.”

Following the revelation of the said emails, several people and organizations condemned Gruden's action. For one, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers removed him from their Ring of Honor despite being the first coach to lead them to the Super Bowl and actually win the title.

Considering the massive shockwaves the leaked emails sent to the entire league, it doesn't look the the controversy will end any time soon.
