One of the biggest headlines of the offseason was the Green BayPackers' decision to part ways with wide receiver Jordy Nelson. Fortunately, he was quickly able to find a new home with the Oakland Raiders.

It is not unusual for players to use a surprising move like this one as added motivation moving forward. However, according to Tyler Smith of Silver and Black Pride, Nelson said that is not the case this time around.

“I don’t have anything to prove,” he said. “I’m enjoying the game, as long as I’m healthy and enjoying it, it will be good.”

There is good reason for Nelson to be content with what he has achieved thus far in his career. He has racked up 550 receptions for 7,848 yards and 69 touchdowns up to this point. During that time, he won a Super Bowl, went to a Pro Bowl, and earned a second-team All-Pro selection. He also won the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year in 2016 after leading the league in touchdown receptions.

Unfortunately, it appears last year's disappointing season was enough for the Packers to shake things up. It goes without saying that quarterback Aaron Rodgers' injury decimated the offense. No player suffered more from his absence than Nelson as he registered just 53 catches for 482 yards and six touchdowns last year.

He now has an opportunity to prove that he is much more than just the product of being Rodgers' main weapon for the last decade. Nelson joins a star-studded offense in Oakland and will be looking to become the safety net of another talented quarterback in Derek Carr.
