The Oakland Raiders could still be without their first-round pick when a national audience tunes in to watch Jon Gruden put his team through the ringer of training camp in preparation for the 2019 season.

According to Vic Tafur of The Athletic, running back Josh Jacobs, the No. 24 overall pick in this year's draft, reports there is a “growing sentiment” he could be absent when Oakland's rookies report to camp on July 24.

Running back Josh Jacobs, one of the team’s three first-round picks in April, is the only Raiders draft pick still unsigned and league sources say the negotiations have not been going well. There is a growing sentiment that Jacobs will not be at camp when rookies report on July 23. (The official start of camp — when the veterans report — is three days later.)

The Athletic reports that the contract dispute between Jacobs and the Raiders is related to the payout schedule of his signing bonus.

Reminder: Oakland is the subject of this year's edition of Hard Knocks, the acclaimed HBO documentary series annually profiling a different team's training camp. As far as potential storylines go, they don't get much juicier than a first-round pick, whose game Gruden has publicly lauded at every turn, continuing to hold out with the regular season just several weeks away.

The first running back selected in the 2019 NFL Draft, Jacobs was lightly recruited out a small high school in Tulsa, OK, only catching on with the University of Alabama after his father sent out highlight tapes to big-name programs across the country. He spent part of his childhood homeless before living in various hotel rooms with his father and four siblings.

During his final season in Tuscaloosa, Jacobs, a junior, posted career-highs across the board of 120 carries for 640 yards and 11 touchdowns, also catching 20 passes for 247 yards and three scores.
