The Los Angeles Rams and Las Vegas Raiders caused quite a commotion in a simple practice. The two sides held a joint practice that ended in a brawl, forcing Vegas head coach Jon Gruden to pull the plug early.

Safe to say, the Raiders' coach was not pleased. Gruden spoke to reporters at the team hotel afterward, where he laid out his views:

“That’s enough of that crap,” Gruden said. “That’s not good for football, that’s not good for anything, so that’s the end of that practice session… it was a lot of trash-talking that escalated. Just sickening, really, it’s just stupidity. I’m done with that. It’s just child’s play to me.”

Some members of the Las Vegas roster clearly enjoyed the extracurricular incident, including Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs. The skilled Raider sent out a three-word tweet right after the skirmish, then followed that up with praise for the Raiders' “fighting spirit” while taking a sly dig at their opponents.

“If you look at our guys and you see how we reacted and you see their guys and how they just let some things happen, I mean … I like that our team (Raiders) got a fighting spirit and not only that but they had each other’s back.”

The Silver and Black certainly brought the fighting spirit in practice, but fans definitely want to see the same energy on the field once the regular season rolls around.

The Raiders have been one of the NFL's most exasperating teams in recent years. The fact that they haven't won a playoff game since the 2002 AFC Championship Game — when they advanced to Super Bowl XXXVII against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers — underscores the depths of underachievement and frustration which have defined the franchise in the 21st century. Las Vegas nearly swept the Kansas City Chiefs last year and yet came within an eyelash of losing to the New York Jets. That's the inconsistency this team must conquer.
