The Oakland Raiders will take the field Sunday versus the Tennessee Titans without the services of star rookie running back Josh Jacobs, who has officially been ruled out due to a fractured shoulder. The ailment has reportedly bothered Jacobs for weeks, but it appears that the pain is now too much for him to play through, leaving the Raiders heavily subdued on the offensive side of the ball.

Without Jacobs in the backfield, the duo of Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington figure to split duties. Quarterback Derek Carr will also presumably take on a larger role, but he is dealing with the loss of Hunter Renfrow out wide.

Jacobs, who has the inside track on Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, will be missing the first game of his career. While he hasn't found the end zone over the past three weeks, Jacobs has accumulated 1,061 yards on the ground and another 146 as a receiver.

Oakland used the 24th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft to nab Jacobs out of the University of Alabama and immediately deploy him as their lead back. He has five games of over 100 yards rushing to his credit, in addition to three multi-touchdown games out of the backfield.

Jacobs' next chance to take the field comes next Sunday when Oakland takes on the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team finds themselves in the midst of the playoff hunt and having one of their most dynamic weapons available to them will be crucial down the stretch of the season.
