It's been a hot minute since we've seen Colin Kaepernick in the NFL. He's been vouching for a role in the league since essentially being banned for demonstrating a peaceful protest against police brutality. However, the former quarterback received a tryout with the Las Vegas Raiders and it apparently went well. Head coach Josh McDaniels reacts to the workout.

However, according to Patrick Clayborn, Josh McDaniels isn't too keen on the idea of speaking about players who are technically not on the roster. Even so, the Raiders head coach claims the team is always looking to improve the roster. Whether that means Las Vegas will sign Colin Kaepernick or not is still in question. Even so, this is a great first step for Kaepernick to potentially rejoin the league.

After spending years claiming he deserved to be a starting quarterback, Colin Kaepernick since then has changed his tune. After several years of not playing meaningful football, the former quarterback would likely have to play a backup role for the time being. Considering Derek Carr has been a solid starter for the Raiders, it'll be tough for Kaepernick to see the field.

Regardless, we watched Marcus Mariota receive some work as the Raiders' backup over the last two seasons. Considering Kaepernick is incredibly athletic, he could earn a role in specific packages to help boost the rushing attack. Additionally, he could be used for certain trick plays as well.

For now, Colin Kaepernick is still a free agent, as the Raiders have yet to sign him. It's unclear whether or not Las Vegas will pull the trigger. However, the fact Kaepernick was given a workout means the coaching staff has some interest in his expertise. We'll see how it plays out, but be prepared to see the former quarterback receive more workouts throughout the summer. If he continues to impress, a franchise is bound to sign him onto the roster.
