After two straight wins to start the season, the Las Vegas Raiders suffered their first defeat in Week 3 courtesy of the New England Patriots. And now it appears that the team could face another hurdle, this time off the field. Reports have surfaced that several Raiders players were seen at a charity event earlier this week without wearing masks.

The charity event took place this Monday in Henderson, Nevada, and aimed to raise money for the Darren Waller Foundation, which is named for the team’s 28-year old tight end.

During the event, multiple players, including Waller, quarterbacks Derek Carr and Nathan Peterman, tight end Jason Witten, and wide receiver Hunter Renfrow were seen without face masks, which is against NFL rules. Pictures from the charity event showed Carr and Waller mingling with fans without masks. This comes on the heels of another NFL investigation on the team for reportedly allowing a non-credentialed team employee to enter their locker room.

Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network and NFL.com reports that the league and the NFL Players Association have already discussed the photos showing the Raiders players without face masks, but states that any discipline on the players would have to come from the team. However, he adds that a team employee provided the invite for the charity event, which said that the players would have a private dining area and would not mingle with fans.

The Las Vegas Review Journal reports that there were at least 100 people present at the charity events, which doubles the number of people allowed to gather at events according to Nevada’s COVID-19 protocols. The report adds that the club that hosted the event has already been fined $2,000 for violating the state’s protocols.

The Raiders, meanwhile, will look to bounce back from the loss to New England when they face the undefeated Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
