Many experts would agree that the deal made by the Oakland Raiders to sign the biggest fish in the free-agent pool, wide receiver Antonio Brown, was a rare stroke of genius by the much-maligned Bay Area franchise.

Last week, the NFL world was shaken when reports came out that Brown had come to terms to be the next great wideout for the Silver and Black. The shock was not solely a response to the fact that the Raiders grabbed Brown, but that they got Brown for a low price: third- and fifth-round picks sent to the Pittsburgh Steelers. This deal was so wild that even the alternate universe of virtual sports rejected this trade.

UTEP Miners quarterback Brandon Jones tweeted a screenshot of this exact trade offer, based on his direct experience of the famed NFL Madden 19 video game. The result was what many expected the Steelers' response to be:

Although it is highly unreliable to base real-life trade scenarios on a mere video game, it's clear that first-year Raiders general manager Mike Mayock had a cheat code up his sleeve to acquire a seven-time Pro Bowl selection for such a bargain, making the Pittsburgh organization look like it was programmed on “rookie difficulty” level.

Oakland needed some inspiration to change perceptions of the franchise. This deal for Brown certainly qualifies. This move changed the tenor of the organization, considering how many experts and fans criticized the Raiders for selling low on stud linebacker Khalil Mack, who went to the Chicago Bears last year.

Although the Raiders may have a ticking time bomb on their hands — specifically, Brown's knack for being an outspoken diva on social media — there's no question that the talent and experience are there for the team to improve next season.

We can also expect an uptick in quarterback Derek Carr's stats — back in the mid-to-high 80s — for the upcoming Madden 2020 edition, due to the signing of Antonio Brown.
