The Oakland Raiders have a tough test waiting for them in Week 1 of the 2018 NFL season, as they are set to host the Los Angeles Rams at home for a Monday Night Football match. It could get harder for the Raiders, though, with running back Marshawn Lynch seemingly not in 100 percent form days before the team’s season opener.

According to a recent injury report published on Oakland’s official website, Lynch was among the Raiders players limited in practice on Friday. Apparently, Lynch is nursing a groin injury, which may slow him down on the field.

While Beast Mode is still expected to start against the Rams, the question is how effective he will be against the Rams’ sturdy defense. Last season, Oakland finished just 25th in rushing yards with Lynch as the lead tailback.

Lynch is better conditioned this time around than last year when he just got out of retirement, but the groin issue could put a cap on his production at least on Monday. Lynch rushed for 891 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games for the Raiders in 2017.

Lynch will get help from Doug Martin and Jalen Richard in the Raiders’ hurting backfield that also has DeAndre Washington, who missed Friday’s practice with a knee injury.

Marshawn Lynch, 32,  is on the last year of the two-year deal he signed with the Raiders in 2017.
