The Oakland Raiders made a surprising move during the NFL offseason to acquire a player that appeared to be content with retirement. Veteran running back Marshawn Lynch let it be known that he was considering a return to the NFL with his sights set on joining his hometown Raiders.

Fortunately for Oakland, the team was able to make it happen and as a result have brought in a considerable upgrade to their ground game. The question now is whether Lynch is the same player and what impact having a year off may have had on the five-time Pro Bowler.

Lynch recently answered questions at a team press conference and addressed how his body is feeling at the moment. The 31-year-old appears to be a bit surprised that it is holding up considering the time off, via Kyle Martin of Raiders.com.

“My body is feeling pretty good, considering I was off for that time. It’s straight.”

The one-time Super Bowl champion also talked about what the most difficult thing has been regarding his return to the NFL at this point in the process, via Martin.

“To be honest, I would say just getting my mentality back to waking up early and getting it going and doing something physical, in order to get my body back to its playing ability. That was the hardest thing for me because I’m not a morning person. After that was over, it was straight.”

Although Lynch is feeling good and seems to be back on track, it remains to be seen when he will he'll make his debut in silver and black. The Raiders will take on the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday at Oakland Coliseum with no guarantee Lynch will get to see some action in front of the avid Oakland faithful.
