Could Marshawn Lynch be returning to the NFL?

According to Steve Wyche of NFL Network, Lynch would return to the NFL if the Oakland Raiders would be willing to bring him aboard.

This news comes one day after running back Isaiah Crowell, one of the Raiders' many free-agent acquisitions this offseason, tore his Achilles, knocking him out for the 2019 campaign.

Of course, Oakland is also bringing back halfback Doug Martin as a result, and with Jalen Richard and rookie running back Josh Jacobs also in tow, there may not be much room for Lynch.

Lynch played in six games with the Raiders this past season before a groin injury landed him on the injured reserve list. When he was on the field, he rushed for 376 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 4.2 yards per carry.

The 33-year-old originally joined Oakland in 2017, appearing in 15 contests and totaling 891 yards and seven scores on the ground.

Lynch, who played his collegiate football at the University of California, was originally selected by the Buffalo Bills with the 12th overall pick of the 2007 NFL Draft.

He spent the first three and a half years of his career with the Bills, making one Pro Bowl before being traded to the Seattle Seahawks midway through the 2010 campaign.

Lynch went on to enjoy the best stretch of his career in Seattle, making four straight Pro Bowl appearances between 2011 and 2014 while also helping lead the Seahawks to a Super Bowl title in 2014.

He then retired following the 2015 campaign, sitting out the entire 2016 season. He then decided to come back to join his hometown Raiders in 2017.
