Oakland Raiders veteran wide receiver Martavis Bryant saw his disappointing first campaign come to close earlier this month due to a knee injury that put him on the injured reserve.

Things have taken yet another turn south as the NFL has announced that Bryant has been placed back onto the Reserve/Commissioner Suspended list indefinitely for violating the substance policy once again, according to ESPN.

“Effective immediately, Martavis Bryant has been returned to the Reserve/Commissioner Suspended list indefinitely for violating the terms of his April 2017 conditional reinstatement under the Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse,” the league said in a statement.

There had previously been rumblings dating back to September that Bryant had violated the substance abuse policy once again and would be punished by the NFL. However, there had been no action put forth in response to that chatter but it had continued to persist over the last several weeks. This alone makes it no surprise that Bryant has now been suspended indefinitely by the league at this point.

This marks the third time that he has violated that policy with the previous time being a one-year suspension that cost him his entire 2016 campaign while he was a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had been acquired by the Raiders during the first round of this year's draft in exchange for a third-round pick. Bryant's brief tenure with the team has been quite rocky that saw him get released by the team then re-signed by the team.

Bryant wasn’t able to produce as hoped this season with just 19 catches on 27 targets for 266 receiving yards and zero touchdowns along with three rushes for 23 yards. He has recorded fewer than 50 receiving yards all but twice this season while failing to notch more than 100 receiving yards in any game. This latest development should all but end any chance that he returns to the team next season.
