The Oakland Raiders have decided to bring back veteran wide receiver Martavis Bryant on a new deal after parting ways with him just prior to the start of the regular season.

According to Tom Peilssero of The NFL Network, the Raiders are set to put Bryant on a prorated contract that will give him the same pay as his previous deal over the rest of the 2018 campaign.

There was clearly no drop off with the Raiders' aspirations with Bryant as the team didn't lowball him in any manner after cutting him before Week 1 action against the Rams. There had been reports that he was facing a one-year suspension from the league for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy. However, there hasn't any more clarity if he's indeed facing that scenario playing out.

In the meantime, the Raiders are hoping to he can pick back where he left off and demonstrate he can be a key piece to the puzzle in the offensive game plan. The front office had put together a trade for him during the 2018 NFL Draft back in late April that saw them move a third-round pick in exchange for him. Oakland is in need of a legitimate deep-ball threat that can take the top off opposing secondaries and Bryant could provide just that.

Bryant is a proven talent that has shown he can be a big-play asset in the passing game that could provide another crucial element.  In his first campaign back from a one-year suspension, he put together a productive campaign by recording 50 catches on 84 targets for 603 receiving yards with three touchdowns. This included posting six games with at least four catches while topping 60 receiving yards on three occasions. This is simply another opportunity to showcase that he can be a big factor for the Raiders.
