The Oakland Raiders are coming off an incredibly disappointing season, but the future could be very bright for them due to the amount of draft picks they accumulated heading into the 2019 season.

After the Raiders traded away two of their best players in Amari Cooper and Khalil Mack, they acquired several first round picks. The Raiders have been one of the worst defensive team's in recent years so it's expected they will draft heavily to assess those needs.

Mel Kiper Jr. recently stated that he believes Oakland is the ‘most fascinating team in the draft,' and with their numerous draft picks it's easy to see why.

Kiper also seems to believe the team will load up on defensive prospects in his recent mock drafts. Aside from defensive prospects, Kiper touched on other areas of need as well:

“They have decisions to make, including with the Antonio Brown situation in Pittsburgh and them needing a receiver,” Kiper said. “They have the draft picks. Do they try and make a move there? Do they take (Oklahoma quarterback) Kyler Murray? Do they move Derek Carr or stick with him?”

Kiper also mentioned the mindset of the team and how it could factor into their draft strategy:

“Jon was always raving about quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson and the like. What’s his opinion of Kyler Murray in relation to Derek Carr? You talk about a fascinating player, and that’s Kyler Murray. You talk about the most fascinating team in this draft, for obvious reasons, it’s the Oakland Raiders.”

The Raiders are likely a major work in progress, but the accumulation of draft picks and flexibility for the future could very well turn things around for Oakland.

Last season the Raiders finished last in the division, so they can only go up from this point on.
