Mike Mayock wants nothing more than to have Jared Cook back on the roster with the Oakland Raiders, but his asking price just might be too high.

Mayock said that he feels that Cook is more interested in finding out what the market would hold for someone like him. If, as he suspects, he gets a great offer — one that the Raiders cannot match — Mayock may find himself without his prized tight end, and he doesn't have any other immediate prospects on the table.

“We'd love to have Jared back,” Mayock said. “He represented us in the Pro Bowl. Free agency is a jigsaw puzzle. We have a bunch of needs we have to prioritize. We'd love to have Jared back, but he's trying to figure out what the market's going to be, what does he want to do, and what can we do once we find out what that market is.”

While speaking about Jared Cook and his future with the Raiders, Mayock also spoke to NBC about the future of Marshawn Lynch with the team.

“The reality with Marshawn is that he's still coming off an injury,” Mayock said Wednesday. “He's still trying to figure out what he wants to do. We would obviously be open to potentially having him back.”

It will be interesting to see where Jared Cook ultimately ends up, and how much he will get paid for his trouble. We are still a few weeks away from the NFL free agency period, so it should be interesting to see where it all goes.
