The Oakland Raiders have had a rough few weeks with the team having lost three straight games before heading into Week 7's matchup against the division rival Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night. Fortunately for Oakland, the team's losing streak came to an end in thrilling fashion, but running back Marshawn Lynch didn't play a role because he was ejected early.

As a result of his ejection, which was for what the NFL calls unnecessary physical contact with a game official, Lynch has been suspended for one game. Jon Runyan, NFL Vice President of Football Operations, issued the following statement about Lynch's actions against the Chiefs.

“You made deliberate physical contact with one of our game officials as he was diffusing an active confrontation between players.  You were disqualified for your inappropriate and unsportsmanlike actions.  Your conduct included pushing the game official and grabbing his jersey…You were not directly involved in the active confrontation that the game official was attempting to diffuse, nor were you a participant in the play that initiated the confrontation.  You were the only player from either team who ran from the sideline to midfield to insert himself into a situation in which he was not directly involved.”

Lynch will now miss next week's matchup against the Buffalo Bills as a result of the suspension. The Raiders coaching staff will likely lean on running backs Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington to help fill the void left by Lynch's absence in the backfield.
