The Oakland Raiders are reshuffling their quarterback group. According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Raiders have claimed DeShone Kizer off of waivers after the Green Bay Packers cut him out of their 53-man roster on Saturday.

The move means that either Mike Glennon or Nathan Peterman will have to start packing their bags.

Kizer is regarded as a draft bust for the Cleveland Browns. The team selected him in the second round of the 2017 draft — passing up on Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson before — only to see him go 0-15 as a starter. He led the NFL in interceptions with 22 as a rookie and threw 11 touchdowns.

Kizer's stint in Cleveland lasted one year. He was shipped off to Green Bay in a trade for safety Damarious Randall in the 2018 offseason. The former Notre Dame man spent the season as a backup; his highlight of the year was stepping in for Aaron Rodgers Week 1 and quickly throwing a pick-six to Khalil Mack.

Kizer was outplayed by 2018 undrafted product Tim Boyle in the 2019 preseason. Over four-games, he threw 25-of-45 passing for 273 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Kizer’s most impressive performance came in Week 1 against the Houston Texans, as he started the game and went 8-of-13 for 102 yards and a score.

Unless the Raiders release a quarterback, Jon Gruden has three on the roster behind starter Derek Carr.

While he's known to be a quarterback whisperer and loves his reclamation projects, one has to go — no matter how much he loves (and sometimes hates) them.
