The Oakland Raiders are expected to pursue wide receiver Tyrell Williams in free agency in an effort to provide quarterback Derek Carr with more help, according to Michael Gehlken of The Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Williams is coming off of a solid 2018 campaign with the Los Angeles Chargers in which he hauled in 41 receptions for 653 yards and five touchdowns.

The 27-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Western Oregon, went undrafted but landed with the Chargers in 2015. That season, he played in just four games, logging two catches for 90 yards and a score.

The following year, Williams' role within the Bolts' offense grew significantly, as he appeared in all 16 contests and hauled in 69 receptions for 1,059 yards while reaching the end zone seven times.

Then, in 2017, Williams quieted down a bit, but was still effective, snaring 43 balls for 728 yards and four touchdowns.

The Raiders are in desperate need of help in the receiving game, as their leading wide receiver this past season was Jordy Nelson, who registered 63 receptions for 739 yards and three touchdowns.

Oakland won just four games in 2018 and has made the playoffs just once since making the Super Bowl during the 2002-03 campaign. Since then, the Raiders have posted just one winning season.

Some felt that Oakland could make a quarterback change this offseason, but it appears that the Raiders are still committed to Carr, who had a rather rough year this past season.

Oakland just completed its first season under new head coach Jon Gruden, who is actually in his second stint with the team.

He formerly coached the Raiders from 1998 through 2001.
