The Oakland Raiders are looking to have a completely revamped wide receiving corps in 2019 after trading for Antonio Brown over this past weekend and reportedly agreeing to terms with Tyrell Williams.

Unfortunately, it looks like Jordy Nelson may not be a part of the team's plans going forward as the Raiders are likely going to release the 33-year-old receiver after just one season.

Nelson likely will find a new suitor for the 2019 season, but at his age it's fair to assume he will likely be playing for the veteran minimum. Perhaps a reunion with his old team could be a possibility as quarterback Aaron Rodgers could use a veteran presence he trusts on offense.

Nelson struggled to get in a groove with the Raiders in 2018, as did the offense as a whole so it likely wasn't the best fit for him. After the Raiders traded Amari Cooper, the team looked to Nelson to pick up more targets and make more plays, but at his age it's simply asking too much. Nelson has always done well in regards to being a legitimate red-zone threat, but quarterback Derek Carr looked for tight end Jared Cook the most among any other pass catcher.

The Raiders have younger, faster receivers for the 2019 season, so it's not completely shocking the team is likely to part ways with Nelson. The initial need he filled last season was what the team needed at the time, but now things are different and it's likely the team will start focusing on defensive players.
