The Oakland Raiders watched their downward tumble continue on Thursday night in a 34-3 blowout loss against the San Francisco 49ers.

It was an extremely one-sided affair that brought up the notion that the Raiders players had quit during the game that turned out to be a decisive win by the 49ers. Following the contest, tight end Jared Cook voiced that he didn't give up by any means on the field, according to Matt Scheidman of The East Bay Times.

“I never quit. I never gave up,” Raiders tight end Jared Cook said. “It’s a frustrating thing to be sitting on the record you have, be going through some of the things we’re going through as an offense and still not being able to put points on the board. It’s definitely frustrating because we know the talent we have in this room is way better than that and way better than what we portray on the field.”

Although the Raiders may voice that they didn't give up, the result along with the manner in which the game unfolded suggest that could have been the case otherwise. Oakland was never in truly in contention against San Francisco totaling just 242 offensive yards with just 4.4 yards per play along with failing to convert their lone trip to the red zone.

Quarterback Derek Carr once again struggled to provide any sort of consistent production as he completed 16-of-21 passes for 171 yards and held an 18.9 quarterback rating. Carr was a non-factor as he led the Raiders on just one scoring drive in the entire game before being pulled out late in the contest.

Things have become quite bleak with the Raiders that it has put into question their effort on the field just past the midway point of the season. All of this could shape up to being an intriguing finish to the 2018 campaign for Oakland in the first year under head coach Jon Gruden.
