The Oakland Raiders offseason overhaul at the wide receiver position continues with the team releasing Seth Roberts, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Roberts was undrafted out of West Alabama in 2014 when he was signed by the Raiders. After spending the 2014 season on the practice squad, Roberts made it to the active roster and was strong during his time with the team. He finished catching 159 passes for 1,827 yards and 13 touchdowns. Last year he had the best season of his career catching 45 passes for 494 yards.

The one big thing in Roberts production that dropped was his touchdowns. Over the last two years, he only caught three touchdowns combined.

According to ParadisePost, when Roberts did catch a touchdown, it meant good things for the team. In the 12 games that Roberts caught a touchdown pass the team was 10-2.

Roberts was in line to make $4.45 million in base salary for the upcoming season with an opportunity to make $35,000 in bonuses. With the Raiders releasing Roberts they open up $4.8 million in cap space without incurring any extra dead money.

It makes sense for the Raiders to save the money, especially with the moves the team has made this offseason at the wideout position. The team has added  Antonio Brown, Tyrell Williams, J.J. Nelson and just signed Ryan Grant.

Roberts still has a chance to be a good receiver in the league but with the guys signed it doesn't make a ton of sense to pay him over $4 million dollars.
