The Oakland Raiders have been an intriguing team to watch so far this season and a big part of that has been due to the breakout season tight end Darren Waller has been having. He has come out of nowhere to be one of the more effective tight ends in the NFL and he has been rewarded for doing so.

According to a report from Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Raiders have agreed to a contract extension with Waller that will run through the 2023 season.

Throughout the first five games of the season and having already had their bye week, Waller has caught 37 passes for 359 yards, but has not found the end zone just yet. Oakland has been looking to him as a No. 1 target for quarterback Derek Carr. There is still more room for him to improve as well.

Standing in at 6-foot-6 and 255 pounds, Waller has excellent speed and athleticism for his size. Oakland has a real weapon to work with and they aren't about to let him walk.

Jon Gruden and company are currently sitting at 3-2 heading into Week 7. They are fresh off of back-to-back victories over the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears. While they aren't viewed as a legitimate playoff contender, they believe that the sky is the limit.

Expect to see the Raiders continue looking to Waller early and often each and every week. With a new contract under his belt and long-term safety, the tight end is going to continue the monster season he has been having so far.
