The Oakland Raiders had to act quickly following the release of Antonio Brown. As a result, they tried to bring back Keelan Doss, who was on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad—but to no avail, per Mike Garafolo.

Keelan Doss joined the Raiders after the draft completed as an undrafted rookie out of UC Davis. Throughout training camp, Doss impressed the coaching staff and began making his case to the make the 53-man roster.

In his four preseason outings with Oakland, Keelan Doss caught 17 passes for 162 yards and a touchdown. Despite his productive preseason, the Raiders cut Doss to make room for other players to make the active roster.

That decision may come back to bite them with the rookie wideout deciding to remain in Jacksonville over returning to Oakland. Above all, Doss also gets a pay-raise by committing with the Jaguars over the Raiders.

With Brown out of the picture, Oakland will now rely on Tyrell Williams, Hunter Renfrow, and Ryan Grant. That group isn't terrible but the Raiders will still likely try to bring in another pass-catcher to help them recover from Brown's departure.

There was a ton of optimism surrounding the Raiders when they were able to acquire Brown from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Throughout the offseason, that optimism has turned into skepticism for the Jon Gruden-led Raiders.

Next year, the Raiders are supposed to make their move to Las Vegas. Without Brown, Oakland needs to find someone to bring onto the offense that can make their move to the Sin City go more smoothly.

Keelan Doss won't be that player.
