Colin Kaepernick hasn't played in the NFL since the 2016 season after his decision to peacefully protest racial inequality. While many in the league are afraid to speak out for him, Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis is not one of them.

In his recent episode of “Race in America: A Candid Conversation,” Davis opened up about Kap's situation and highlighted that he deserves a chance to get back in the NFL. He went as far as to saying that if the Raiders' front office and coaching staff want to sign him to the team, he would be more than open to it.

“I believe in Colin Kaepernick,” Davis said, per Monte Poole of NBC Sports. “He deserves every chance in the world to become a quarterback in the National Football League. I still stand by it. If our coaches and general manager want to bring him in or want him to be the quarterback on this team, I would welcome him with open arms.”

Mark Davis also showed his support to Colin Kaepernick and the message he wants to send with his protest. He noted that the veteran QB “has sacrificed a lot of the things that he could have been doing in his life” and that he stands by him.

The Raiders boss admitted he was also confused at first why Kap was protesting, but he realized later on what he wants to do the the importance of his actions.

“I think Colin is a very misunderstood human being,” Davis said. “I’ve gotten a chance to talk to him. I never really knew Colin, and I didn’t understand him. I didn’t understand the kneeling, what that meant initially. Over time, I have learned a little bit more about it. I understand where he was coming from. He’s got a message for society as a whole.”

Las Vegas already has Derek Carr as their starting QB, and it doesn't look like that will change any time soon. However, it will certainly be interesting to see if Kaepernick can get a chance with the Raiders even as a backup QB. After all, he just needs one opportunity to show what he is capable of doing.
