The Las Vegas Raiders want to make sure that their first season in Sin City will be a successful one. And they're taking the necessary steps to bolster their defense. The acquisition of Damarious Randall is one that is meant to add depth and talent to their pass defense.

Josina Anderson of ESPN reported the acquisition. The former Cleveland Brown told the reporter of the move, as he'll sign a one-year deal with the Raiders.

Anderson's report is a small win for a Raiders squad that badly needs help on pass defense. Randall has proven in his career that he's a solid defender. Through two stops with the Browns and the Green Bay Packers, Randall has notched a respectable 290 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 47 pass deflections, and 14 interceptions that went for 232 yards and two pick-6's.

If there's one cause for concern among Raiders fans about this signing, it's going to be his lack of production from last season. He didn't record a single interception under Freddie Kitchens. If this level of production keeps up, he might be without a job this time next year.

However, it's also important to remember that the Browns of last season were inconsistent at times. Moreover, the Raiders need all the help they could get: they allowed opposing teams to complete 4107 passing yards and 33 passing touchdowns. They need all the help they can get, and Randall is a fine addition to the squad.

If things don't work out with Randall, they can scour the market for a new pass defender. Meanwhile, Randall gets an opportunity to sell himself to the rest of the league. This deal is a win for all parties involved.
