One of the developing situations surrounding the Oakland Raiders heading into the season opener was veteran kicker Sebastian Janikowski's contract situation.

There had been a report earlier this week stating that he was at odds with the team about restructuring his deal, which had put his future in Oakland for the 2017 NFL season in jeopardy. However, Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting on Thursday morning that the two sides have agreed to a reworked contract.

This puts him just over a million less than what he was scheduled to make for the 2017 campaign. He is set to enter the final year of his four-year, $15.1 million deal with the Raiders. Things had appeared to potentially be heading south after reports surfaced that they worked out veteran kickers Mike Nugent, Josh Lambo, and Marshall Koehn all on Monday.

However, the restructured deal now keeps him in place for at least this upcoming season as he and New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady remain the longest tenured players with their respective teams. Janikowski currently holds the Raiders’ all-time marks for points (1,799) and games played (268).

The 39-year-old also has one Pro Bowl selection and a Second-Team All-Pro nod that were both earned in the 2011 season.
