The Oakland Raiders have found a new body to help them cure their backfield woes. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Raiders are signing veteran running back C.J. Anderson, though, the exact details of the contract are yet to be revealed.

Before hooking up with the Raiders, Anderson had a visit with the Kansas City Chiefs, who are also exploring options to add depth to their backfield after releasing Kareem Hunt last week.

The Raiders started the 2018 NFL season with Marshawn Lynch installed as their unquestioned No. 1 running back, but a groin injury ended his season when he was placed on the injured reserve by the team last October. Since then, the Raiders have mostly relied on the legs of Doug Martin, Jalen Richard, and DeAndre Washington in their ground attack.

C.J. Anderson last suited up for the Carolina Panthers, who signed him to a one-year deal worth $1.75 million last May, but was barely used at all by the team. He played in nine games in Carolina threads with a start and finished his stint under head coach Ron Rivera with only 104 rushing yards and zero touchdowns on 24 carries.

Still only 27, Anderson will look to recapture his form in his last year with the Denver Broncos in 2016, when he rushed for 1,007 yards with three touchdowns.

The Raiders are 22nd in the league with just 105.3 rushing yards per game through the first 13 weeks of the season.
