Wearing a certain helmet may seem like an insignificant issue to some but to Antonio Brown it means everything. The Oakland Raiders wide receiver is insisting on wearing his old helmet in the upcoming season.

A team source with the Raiders says that the Brown-helmet situation is the “most insane thing ever“. The NFL ruled that Brown's current helmet is unfit for a player to wear in 2019.

Earlier this week, it was found out that Brown was missing practices due to injuries to his feet from a cryotherapy session. Due to his feet, Brown has been absent from training camp. This comes after the troubled wideout arrived at training camp in a hot-air balloon.

Now, it seems like he has been away from the team due to his disapproval of the NFL's decision to disallow him from wearing his current helmet. The Raiders wideout had a scheduled grievance hearing with the NFL on Friday. There was no immediate decision made by the arbitrator at the hearing.

The situation has escalated to the point where Brown is threatening to retire if he can't wear the same helmet he has in the past nine seasons. Jon Gruden doesn't seem too pleased with his prized wide receiver missing practices with his new team.

The Raiders are trying to improve upon their 2018 season where they went 4-12. This year is important to the Raiders as they prepare themselves to relocate to Las Vegas in 2020.

The Raiders may be finding out why the Pittsburgh Steelers were willing to part ways with the All-Pro wide receiver now.
