Heading into the 2017 season, Oakland Raiders rising star wide receiver Amari Cooper was expected to take the next step in his development. However, things fell short of that with Cooper experience a notable drop in production across the board.

The Raiders have brought aboard a new head coach in Jon Gruden in hopes of revamping the offensive game plan that will heavily feature the 23-year-old in the passing game in 2018. During an interview on NFL Network’s Up to the Minute on Monday, Hall of Famer Tim Brown voiced much confidence in Gruden being able to bring the best out of the former Pro Bowler. “Look, Jon Gruden, he will get that fixed,” Brown told Siciliano. “This is a guy that knows all of those tricks of the trade. He’s been with all the great receivers in the league. I don’t think this is going to be an issue at all. Amari is going to be put in an incredible position to catch 100 balls year one in this offense and I think that it’ll get done.”

Brown has much personal experience playing under Gruden during the coach's first tenure with the team in that four years stretch. This saw him put together some of the most productive campaigns of his Hall of Fame career posting at least 75 catches for 1,000 receiving yards while hauling in 35 total receiving touchdowns over that stretch that helped him earn two Pro Bowl selections.

Granted, Brown had already established himself as one of the premier wideouts in the league with five consecutive seasons with least 80 catches and 1,000 receiving yards before Gruden's arrival, it shows that a talented player at the position can excel in his offensive system. There has already been an emphasis from Gruden that he plans on heavily relying on Cooper to be the leading receiving option should see him in line for a big role that he can excel in.

Keep in mind, the Alabama product had posted back-t0-back campaigns with at least 70 catches, 1,000 receiving yards, and five touchdown receptions to begin his NFL career. It may just be the matter of him getting the chance for a fresh start in a new offensive scheme that could see him get back on track to rise to stardom.
