After 9 years in Green Bay, Jordy Nelson was released by the Packers on Tuesday. The Pro Bowler and superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers formed one of the most dynamic duos in the NFL, regularly leading their prolific offense to the postseason while winning Super Bowl XLV.

As Nelson turns the page to another chapter in his career, two teams have emerged as likely contenders for his services: the New England Patriots and Oakland Raiders, according to NFL.com's Chris Wesseling.

With Danny Amendola out in Foxborough, the Patriots should have interest in acquiring another playmaker on the outside, and according to Yahoo! Sports' Jordan Schultz, Nelson already had New England in mind when he found out the Packers planned to release him.

“I’m told Jordy Nelson knew he was being released and that he was already targeting the Patriots as a potential suitor. Makes a ton of sense.”

In addition to Oakland and New England, the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks have also been mentioned as possible landing spots.

Nelson has surpassed the 1,000 receiving yard plateau four times in his career, including three straight years from 2013-2015. He scored 27 touchdowns between 2014 and '15 and accumulated a career-high 1,519 yards in '14.

After missing the entire 2016 season, the Kansas State product returned and struggled to replicate his previous success this year, especially when Rodgers became sidelined by his broken collarbone. After playing with a QB of Rodgers' caliber for his entire career, it's understandable that Nelson wants to work with another perennial All-Pro, like Tom Brady.
