After a string of consecutive losses, the Las Vegas Raiders are set to miss the postseason for the fourth consecutive season. Despite their struggles as of late, the team will continue to put their trust in quarterback Derek Carr and will not be looking to trade him for the time being.

Via Adam Schefter on ESPN NFL Sunday Countdown:

“There's no intention that they are willing to move off of Derek Carr at this point in time. Now, Jon Gruden is always looking at quarterbacks and they also have Marcus Mariota under a two-year contract, but Carr played well this year and you have to figure they'd like to stick with him going into next year. No intention to move off him at this time.”

The Raiders were initially poised to be a playoff-bound team midway through the season after coming out with a 6-3 record. However, they went on to lose five of their next six games from Week 11 to Week 16 which led them to have a 7-8 record heading to Week 17.

Carr managed to improve in his seventh season after accumulating 3,732 passing yards on 479 attempts and 25 scoring touchdowns in 15 appearances. His backup, Marcus Mariota, also made a good account of himself when he slotted for Carr in their Week 13 tilt against the Los Angeles Chargers.

However, Mariota only appeared in a lone game this season which certainly wasn't enough to win the starting job over Carr despite the team's slump. Unfortunately, both of the quarterbacks' impressive performances still weren't enough to power the Raiders to a postseason berth in the 2020 NFL season.

Derek Carr is looking to lead his team once again and finish their campaign with a victory as they visit the Denver Broncos for Week 17 action.
