When Jon Gruden was hired to be the head coach of the Oakland Raiders, there were rumblings that general manager Reggie McKenzie might be on his way out.

According to Jason LaConfora of CBSSports, it looks more and more like that is the case and he expects the Raiders to have a new general manager in place by next April's draft.

The Raiders have had problems hitting in the last few drafts and Gruden has had no issues cutting high draft picks. The Raiders also traded Khalil Mack, and the team has gotten a lot of grief for it, especially with the way Oakland's pass rush has struggled.  The Raiders have four first-round draft picks in the next two drafts and according to LaConfora Gruden wants to make sure he has his guy making that decision.

“Numerous general managers, personnel directors and NFL officials would be shocked if there are not new decision-makers in place in Oakland well before the 2019 draft. It's being viewed as a near certainty in industry circles, and Gruden has a vast network of former colleagues he could potentially call upon from his previous stints in the NFL, as well as a group of young rising executives at other clubs who may be intrigued about working with him.”

Gruden might be under the general manager but there is no question he has more power than whoever is in that spot. Mark Davis has been trying to make Gruden his head coach for years, and he isn't going to lose him over a general manager change.
