It has been a heck of a year for Oakland Raiders running back Josh Jacobs.

First, he was selected by the Raiders in the first round of the NFL Draft. Then, he signed a four-year contract. Jacobs then proceeded to have a spectacular rookie campaign, playing in 13 games and racking up 1,150 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground while averaging 4.8 yards per carry.

Now, he is buying his father a new house.

Jacobs recorded the event and posted it on social media, teasing his dad about shedding some tears in the process:

Awesome gesture by Jacobs, and an awesome reaction from pops.

The Raiders' decision to draft Jacobs, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, in the first round was viewed as a perplexing move by some, as running backs are not typically prioritized in the first round outside of extreme circumstances (e.g. Saquon Barkley, Ezekiel Elliott, and Christian McCaffrey), and Jacobs was not even all that productive on the collegiate level, rushing for just 640 yards during his final season at Alabama.

However, Jacobs vindicated Oakland with his performance throughout the year, putting together five 100-yard performances and finishing eighth in the NFL in rushing yards in spite of missing three games.

The 21-year-old was also the last player from the 2019 NFL draft class to sign a contract, as he and the Raiders engaged in a bit of a standoff before finally agreeing to a deal in July.

Oakland was in playoff contention for quite a while during the regular season but ultimately finished with a record of 7-9.
