The Chicago Bulls are set to enter the offseason with plenty of questions regarding the direction of the franchise centered on the state of the roster.

One of the most crucial decisions that the team faces will be Rajon Rondo‘s future with the Bulls next season. According to Carlos Douglas Jr. of the Chicago Chronicle, the former All-Star guard is on the mend from his wrist and thumb injuries while there is the belief that the organization could bring him back for another campaign.

Chicago will have to make a decision on Rondo before the end of the next month as the remaining $10 million of his $13.4 million salary for next season will kick in after June 30. This means the front office will decide on his fate before the start of the free agency period.

There were already several reports that have indicated the Bulls are leaning toward bringing back Rondo for the final year of his deal. The 31-year-old played exceptionally well down the stretch of the season and into the playoffs.

In fact, Rondo was a major reason for the Bulls garnering a surprising 2-0 series lead against the top-seeded Boston Celtics behind his play on the court averaging 11.5 points, 10.0 assists, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.5 steals in the first two games prior to suffering a broken thumb.

This includes joining Michael Jordan as the only players in team history to record 10 assists and five steals in a playoff game. It could be fairly argued that Chicago could have won their first-round series against Boston sans Rondo's injury, paving the way to a lengthy playoff run.

With Rondo leaving a strong impression on the front office in the final few weeks of the season, it could lead to him donning a Bulls' uniform for at least another year.
