The Los Angeles Rams made the announcement on Friday that star running back Todd Gurley was ruled out for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers. This has thrust running back C.J. Anderson into the starting role for the second straight week.

In response to that, Anderson voiced excitement about an opportunity to get extended playing time and a heads up about that much earlier than last Sunday. (h/t Conner Casey of 247 Sports)

“I guess the best part now is I'm getting the news on Friday…instead of getting the news an hour and a half before the game,” Anderson said. “So, it'll be fun. Should have some fun.”

Anderson didn't get word that he was going to be the starter until a few hours prior to last week's game against the Cardinals, as Gurley had attempted to give it a go. The Rams had elected to proceed with a precautionary route with the entire matter to avoid any possible setbacks.

This opened up the chance for Anderson to put together a huge performance as he had 167 rushing yards on 20 carries with a touchdown. He was a huge factor in the contest that helped the Rams cruise to a 31-9 win on the road.

The 27-year-old will have another game to prove that he can help push Los Angeles to another crucial win and secure a first-round playoff bye. His play could be highly indicative of how the game plays out offensively while allowing the Rams to push forward to finish out the regular season on a high note heading into the postseason.
