For the last several weeks, the Los Angeles Rams have had the cloud of star defensive tackle Aaron Donald holding out in favor of landing a new long-term deal.

However, it appears it has come to an end after the 26-year-old has reported to the team's practice facility on Saturday where he passed a physical without a new deal in place.

Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald ended his holdout Saturday, reporting to the team and passing a physical.

Donald has not received a new contract, but the two sides will keep working toward one, the Rams said. He will not play in Sunday's season opener against the Indianapolis Colts.

Donald will not be fined for the missed time during training camp and the preseason by reporting to the team's practice facility to conduct his physical. Although he has returned to the team, he will not play in the season opener on Sunday afternoon against the Indianapolis Colts.

Had he returned earlier in the week, there was a possibility that he could have suited up for Week 1 but since he has had no practice time, it has put him out of the mix to play. That said, there is a strong chance that he could return for Week 2 action against the Washington Redskins after a full week of practice.

Donald is widely regarded as one of the top defensive players in the league through his first three campaigns as he leads all defensive tackles with 28.0 sacks and 57.0 tackles for loss over that span. He is believed to be eyeing a new deal that would make him the highest paid defensive player in the NFL.
