Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald has long established himself as the best player on his side of the ball. However, it appears he has been trying all this time to expand his role

Donald still has yet to register a single carry as a running back. He says it its not for a lack of trying, via Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire:

“I’ve been trying for six years. I’ve been trying for six years, but they just won’t allow it. Hopefully one day they’ll give me that ball and let my little league days back out,” he said.

The prospect of fellow defensive players trying to tackle Donald is undoubtedly an intriguing one, and he recently opened up about how he thought he was going to be a running back when he was growing up. His rare combination of size and explosiveness would make bringing him down much easier said than done. Unfortunately, it seems Los Angeles has always been hesitant with putting him in on offense ever since his arrival.

After all, Donald has already established himself as a future Hall of Fame just entering the prime of his career. While the two-time Defensive Player of the Year may have been snubbed for the award this season, it could largely be attributed to the fact that he has set the bar so high for himself following a historic 2018 campaign.

Regardless, there is no denying that the Rams certainly need a boost on offense following an underwhelming year in which they failed to establish the run game. It will be interesting to see if head coach Sean McVay ever looks to assemble a special goal-line package that features Donald as the primary weapon.
