Personally, I am not envious of the position Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff will be in this Sunday when he faces his former team, the Los Angeles Rams. Of course, a matchup with the Rams means going up against the best defensive player in the game, Aaron Donald.

Donald, not surprisingly, is ready to blow up the Lions' offensive line and get after his former teammate when the Rams and Lions face off at SoFi Stadium.

The Rams DT said he's been playfully talking smack to Goff via text throughout the week.

“Just cracking jokes here and there,” Donald said Thursday, via the Los Angeles Times. “We going to do our job and get after him and try to have some success.”

Donald and Goff played together in Los Angeles for five seasons and helped lead the Rams to an appearance in Super Bowl LIII. That said, Donald doesn't think it will feel odd to chase after Goff in the pocket.

“It ain’t going to be weird at all,” Donald said. “I told him, ‘Get ready.’ I told him I’m going to be coming after him, so he knows what it is.

“I’m going to go out there, fly around try to make my plays when they present themselves. Hopefully I get to him a couple times.”

Donald said Goff said “something funny” in response but kept that private.

This offseason, Goff — whom the Rams selected with the No. 1 overall pick in 2016 — was involved in a trade for another former top pick, veteran QB Matthew Stafford.

With Stafford under center, Los Angeles has rolled to a 5-1 record (though still trail the undefeated Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West). On the flip side, Goff's Lions (0-6) are the last team in football without a victory.

Donald has nine QB hits, 3.5 sacks, and five tackles for losses through six games this season.
