Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald is not used to being at training camp, so this summer is a bit of a shock to his system.

The two-time reigning Defensive Player of the Year sat out of the Rams' last two training camps while awaiting a new contract, a new contract that he finally landed just before the start of the 2018 campaign.

But now, Donald is paid, happy, and healthy, and now, he will be able to get in shape much quicker than 2017 and 2018.

“Hopefully, it don’t take me four games to get going this year,” Donald said, according to Gary Klein of The Los Angeles Times. “So I think it’s going to be a plus for me getting here and getting going right away. If anything, I should be better.”

Donald is referring to the fact that it took him four games to get his first sack in each of the last two seasons, a pretty ridiculous stat considering he racked up 11 sacks in 2017 and 20.5 sacks in 2018.

The 28-year-old says he is feeling great and that he did miss spending the last couple of camps with his teammates:

“My body was in great shape. No aches, no pain, no nothing,” said Donald.

“Being here with the guys, that’s what you miss — the grind,” he said. “… This is where it all starts and where it all happens. So me being here now from the start until the finish is going to be a plus.”

Donald has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first five seasons and has earned First-Team All-Pro selection in four straight years.
