The Los Angeles Rams suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday afternoon in a 45-35 shootout against the New Orleans Saints.
This has shifted much of the focus over to the Rams play defensively that saw them struggle at times throughout the contest with the Saints having their way offensively throughout. Despite that, star defensive tackle Aaron Donald has voiced no concern about the team's play on that side of the ball, according to Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.
“We going to fix it,” Aaron Donald said. “We ain't panicking. We'll make the corrections and fix it and get better.”
Los Angeles has had their issues flair up defensively as the season has worn on with their secondary along with pass-rush situation. It saw them fail to record a sack against the Saints while Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters was targeted greatly by Drew Brees in his matchup against Pro Bowl wide receiver Michael Thomas, who had a huge performance with 12 catches for 211 receiving yards and a touchdown.
However, Los Angeles did pick it up in the second half of the game defensively that helped fuel them erasing a 21-point deficit with a chance to secure a win on the road. What should also be noted that Donald on several plays had nearly taken down Brees in the pocket where he was just able to get away from his grip. Meanwhile, recently acquired outside linebacker Dante Fowler Jr. made a couple of impressive plays that could be a sign of things to come.
It wasn't a standout performance by any means, but the Rams have room for improvement that this game had been put on display against one of the league's best offenses. Los Angeles will have a chance to get back on track in Week 10 at home against the Seattle Seahawks.
