Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald was voted Defensive Player of the Year by the Professional Writers of America for his outstanding performance throughout the 2018 season.

Donald led the league in sacks and tackles for a loss this season. Donald's career-best 20.5 sacks were good for the NFL's best, and his 25 tackles for a loss were also the best of his career. He has been an unrelenting force on defense and outmatches nearly ever opposing lineman in his way. The Rams can credit a lot of their run defense success to Donald's presence on the line and his ability to be a game-wrecker for opposing offenses.

Donald's moves off the line are incredible as well as his ability to overpower offensive linemen. Prior to the 2018 season, Donald's previous career high for sacks was 11.0 in which he was able to reach twice. A 9.5 difference in sacks is freakish and this season proved that Donald was well worth the six-year $135 million deal he signed prior to the start of the season. Donald was named the AP NFL's Defensive Player of the Year for the 2017 season.

Donald's career has been incredibly well decorated so far, and it only appears to be getting better for the fifth year defensive star. The Rams have arguably the best defensive player in the league and maybe the best all-around player in the league. Donald is often praised by his peers for his talents, and there's no secret why. The Rams will remain a solid defensive unit as long as Donald is on the roster.
