Aaron Donald has nothing left to prove individually. He's been the NFL's most-decorated player since he entered the league five years ago, and it's not particularly close. Donald has been named First Team All-Pro four consecutive times, and enters the 2019 season as the two-time defending Defensive Player of the Year. No one was surprised when the Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman was revealed as the top-ranked player in the countdown of the NFL Top 100, either.

Earlier this week, Donald downplayed the importance of winning a third straight Defensive Player of the Year award, insisting his focus is on helping his team overcome last season's heartbreak. He offered a similar sentiment on Friday when it comes to breaking the NFL's single-season sack record.

“I just play. If it happens, it happens,” he said, per Rams PR. “Obviously, you want to have success, so I get how it goes just to have success and keep getting better each year. Main goal is trying to get a ring. That’s the main thing is trying to get back to the Super Bowl and being world champions. So, we just got to keep working, I got to keep working and trying to do my part.”

Donald led the league with 20 and-a-half sacks last season, nearly 10 more than his previous career-high. Firmly in the thick of his prime at 28, playing for a defense with multiple other pass-rush threats, it's very possible he improves on his new personal-best.

New York Giants icon Michael Strahan owns the record with 22 and-a-half sacks. Is three more quarterback takedowns from Aaron Donald at all difficult to imagine?
