The Los Angeles Rams have easily been one of the busier teams in the league over the last few weeks with several moves that will have an impact on the defensive side of the ball. The latest came this past Saturday with the big acquisition of All-Pro cornerback Aqib Talib.

The 32-year-old is set to be the latest addition to the Rams' bolstered secondary that could quickly become one of the most effective units in the league next season. According to James Palmer of NFL Network, Talib has finally spoken out about the soon-to-be official trade to Los Angeles that he has called a “great situation” for him in this next chapter of his career. “What better place to do it than L.A., man,” Talib told NFL Network's James Palmer on Saturday. “With that market. With (defensive coordinator) Wade Phillips. With a young energetic corner on the other side, man, to bring back that youth to me. A great quarterback and Todd Gurley, it's just a great situation in my opinion.”

Talib is set to reunite with Wade Phillips, who was his defensive coordinator on the Denver Broncos for the two years prior to joining the Rams in that same position last offseason. It should lead to a seamless transition for the five-time Pro Bowl cornerback as one of the starters alongside fellow new addition Marcus Peters. This dynamic duo could become one of the top pairings in the league while anchoring Los Angeles' secondary.

This acquisition has further raised the bar of expectations around the organization while signaling that the team believes they could be a legitimate Super Bowl contender next season. Los Angeles is coming off a promising season where they became the league's highest-scoring offenses.

On top of that, the front office is expected to make more moves this offseason aside from the draft that could see them as being one of the busier teams in free agency. All of this could be just the beginning of what may be another significant leap forward for the Rams in 2018.
