The Los Angeles Rams have been in cruise control over the first three weeks of the season, as they collected consecutive wins over the Oakland Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, and Los Angeles Chargers over that span, but they are now dealing with some bad news with regards to star cornerback Aqib Talib’s health.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN,  Talib is set to undergo surgery to repair an ankle injury he sustained during the 35-23 win against the Chargers last Sunday.

Rams coach Sean McVay tells reporters says that CB Aqib Talib will have ankle surgery on Thursday. The timetable on his return will be determined following surgery.

It was earlier reported that Aqib Talib is going to miss at least four weeks to recuperate from the injury, so his recovery timetable could be somewhere along that estimation.

Talib isn’t the only hurt secondary key piece for the Rams. Cornerback Marcus Peters sustained a calf injury also during the Chargers game with Ian Rapoport of ESPN reporting that the player could miss up to a month.

Rams coach Sean McVay said that while CB Aqib Talib is definitely out Thursday against the Vikings and is a “huge loss,” CB Marcus Peters is questionable.

With Talib virtually assured to miss Thursdays’ game against the Minnesota Vikings at home, it would be a bigger blow to the Rams’ defense if Peters will also be ruled out at least for that contest, especially with the talented pair of receivers in Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs coming to town.
