Blake Bortles is expected to start the teams preseason game on Saturday night against the Oakland Raiders and he is excited about the opportunity. Bortles is a former first-round pick but really struggled at times with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he told the media he is excited to put a new resumé on tape.

“It’s an opportunity for me to get a new resumé on tape,” Bortles said via The Los Angeles Times.

Bortles signed with the Rams this offseason for only $1 million dollars, but it is reported that he still is owed over $6 million from the Jaguars. Even though Bortles did struggle in Jacksonville, he has impressed the Rams coaching staff this offseason.

“He’s really been impressive when you look at a guy that’s had a lot of success as a starter in some different systems, how quickly he’s been able to come in here, digest the material, be able to own it and then be able to help get guys on the same page with some of the younger guys he’s playing with,” McVay said.

It's unclear how long Bortles will play, but it's expected that the Rams coaching staff wants to get a good look at what he can do.

Bortles isn't the only player on the Rams to keep a close eye on during Saturday's game. Rookie running back Darrell Henderson is going to play on Saturday, and probably play a lot and the team is excited what he can do alongside Todd Gurley out of the backfield.

It's only the preseason but there are still plenty of storylines when two of the California teams face off.
