Brandin Cooks finally got a chance to play in a full Super Bowl game but was unable to haul in a couple of catches. For him, that adds another layer of disappointment onto the Rams loss.

Super Bowl LIII was a defensive contest for most of the game, but both the Patriots and Rams had opportunities to score throughout. While the Patriots’ tandem of Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman came through for some key plays, the Rams offensive stars could not do the same.

While speaking to the media after the loss last night, Cooks didn’t look to shift blame for the miscues, via Josh Katzenstein of NOLA.com.

“I just got to make those plays,” Cooks said.

While he did finish the game with eight catches and 120 yards, he said that he will carry some regret over the plays he didn’t make into next season.

Twice in yesterday’s Super Bowl loss, Cooks had chances at catching touchdown passes that would have put the Rams up. One play saw Cooks wide open in the end zone, but a late throw and a great play by Jason McCourty broke up any chance. The other was a terrific throw by Goff that Cooks could not come down with.

“It was one of those bang-bang plays,” Cooks said. “Harmon came over the top. I’m great enough to make that play, and I still got to make it no matter what situation it was, to be honest.”

After that throw, Goff was then forced into a panicked pass, which he floated right into Gilmore's hands for what essentially as the game-sealing interception.

For Cooks, the impressive game he had (he accounted for 46 percent of the Rams’ offensive yards) doesn’t matter much, as he was still disappointed in the outcome.

“It’s disappointing,” he said. “All the hard work that you put in, you get here, you don’t capitalize and now it’s like all over again you got to put that hard work in again, and hopefully we continue to build and can be able to get back here again.”
