Los Angeles Rams running backs Todd Gurley and C.J. Anderson joined some elite company with their performances in the NFC Divisional Round victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night.

The Rams pulled off the 30-22 win to advance to the NFC title game next week, and the biggest reason for their success was the excellence of both Gurley and Anderson on the ground.

Anderson rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns, while Gurley racked up 115 yards and a score in helping fuel Los Angeles to the huge win.

And in doing so, the duo accomplished an incredible feat.

From Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk:

Anderson and Gurley were the first pair of running back teammates to run for 100 yards in a playoff game together since 1997, when Denver’s Terrell Davis and Derek Loville each topped 100 yards in a playoff win over Jacksonville. (Other teams have had two 100-yard rushers in the playoffs since, but only when one was a quarterback.)

The Anderson signing seemed like one that would simply be minor after Gurley was out due to injury, but it's clear that Sean McVay and company had other things in mind.

Anderson has given this team a huge spark, and that's going to make it difficult for opponents to try to stop both running backs in the Rams' offensive attack.

McVay's team will now prepare for the winner of Sunday's matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles.
