The Los Angeles Rams leaned on the breakout performance of rookie running back Cam Akers to snag a lopsided victory against the New England Patriots in Week 14 proceedings. After the game, the former Florida State standout deflected credit to his teammates, specifically the Rams' offensive line, who gave him the gaps that allowed him to operate on his ground game all throughout the encounter.

“The offensive line was the reason the run game was so successful tonight, in my opinion. Those guys got great push every time we ran the ball,” he said after the win. “When they create the space, that’s all I needed. The rest is in my hands,” Akers said via Yahoo Sports.

Afterward, he went on to credit the team's receiving corps and tight end group that both played crucial roles in their most recent victory via Twitter.

The rookie has primarily played in a bench role for the Rams, only starting three of eleven total games played this season. The team's dominant 24-3 victory against the Patriots turned out to be a good day for Akers as he balled out with 171 rushing yards on 29 touches. His tallies ultimately set the record for the most rushing yards made by a rookie ball-carrier this season thus far.

He now bumps his season total to 528 rushing yards on 109 attempts and two scoring touchdowns in 11 appearances. The 21-year-old will aim to impress and lead the team's ground game once again in their Week 15 matchup against the lowly New York Jets.

Cam Akers will continue to be an integral piece for the team moving forward, especially with their 9-4 record which puts them in a good position to secure a spot in the upcoming 2020 NFL playoffs.
