The Los Angeles Rams’ loaded secondary got another boost on Tuesday. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Rams have re-signed Nickell Robey-Coleman to a deal that is the biggest so far of the cornerback’s career.

#Rams nickel CB Nickell Robey-Coleman has agreed to terms on a 3-year deal worth more than $15.75M, sources say, with $8M guaranteed. More firepower for a revamped LA secondary.

Nickell Robey-Coleman originally signed with the Rams last year, inking a one-year deal worth just $855,000. But after a season in which he impressed the Rams with two interceptions and 39 total tackles in 15 games played (four starts), the team deemed it worthy for them to make a splash on Robey-Coleman in this free agency period.

The Rams locking up Robey-Coleman only makes their secondary a whole lot beefier and daunting for their upcoming opponents. It was not long ago when Los Angeles gave their defense a huge shot in the arm by acquiring the pair of Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib via separate trade transactions. Apart from Robey-Coleman, Peters, and Talib, the Rams have also signed corner Sam Shields. All told, the Rams have arguably the best secondary in football as of the moment.

Last season, the Rams finished 13th in passing yards with 217.2 passing yards allowed per game and were sixth in the league with 18 interceptions.

Nickell Robey-Coleman, who did not hear his name called in the 2013 NFL Draft, played his first four seasons with the Buffalo Bills. He has five interceptions in 79 games played thus far in his career.
