The Los Angeles Rams recently reached a deal with former Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews to bring him onto the team in hopes of returning to the Super Bowl next season. After the signing, Matthews is out to prove his worth and provide a much needed veteran presence to the Rams defensive front.

Matthews spent his entire 10-season career with the Packers, and although his numbers have tapered off a bit, the Rams know his worth and the potential he brings to the team. The Rams are a fantastic team with a ton of talent on both sides of the ball, but adding Matthews could be an incredible boost to their defense next season. Matthews' intensity and versatility are traits that surely excite the Rams, and now that Matthews is close to home, he could be playing with an unrelenting fire to compete.

The Rams will likely use Matthews alongside Cory Littleton and Samson Ebukam very effectively as defensive coordinator Wade Phillips is one of the league's best defensive coordinators. The plan for Matthews right now might be to work him in slowly or keep him on a snap count, but it won't take long for the team to feature him often.

Matthews could help Los Angeles get back to the Super Bowl and win a title like he did with the Packers back 2010. The Rams have to be excited about adding Matthews to the team and gaining a tenacious linebacker to complement their already-talented roster.
